RUSTPROOFING

TitanPROOF Rustproofing System

My new car is resistant to underbody rust right? WRONG! Why factory underbody sealant is not enough and what you need to do instead.

Brand new vehicles are vulnerable to rust, especially in the chassis and subframes, due to harsh conditions during transport. Protecting against corrosion is crucial.

Underbody rust is a common issue for cars in New Zealand, leading to WOF failures, loss of value, and even structural damage to your vehicle.

With Kiwis enjoying fishing and off-roading, the salty water and mud can quickly take a toll on your vehicle's underbody. Don’t risk losing your memories or your vehicle’s integrity.

Imagine confidently loading your boat or jet ski, knowing your vehicle is rustproofed. Plus, think about passing your WOF with ease, no matter how many adventures you take on!

STEP 1

Rust elimination

The initial stage of rustproofing involves neutralizing and stabilizing any existing rust to prevent its further spread. To achieve this, we employ an epoxy rust converter that effectively eliminates and stabilizes/negates rusty areas, enabling them to be coated over. Subsequently, we administer two additional applications of this epoxy rust converter. This serves as a robust primer sealant, effectively halting the progression of rust and facilitating the commencement of the rustproofing process.

STEP 2

Chassis Underseal

Ensuring proper undersealing of rust repairs is of utmost importance, and utilising a self-healing underseal is highly recommended to prevent delamination or chipping caused by flying stones. At  Titan Autoworks, we rely on a renowned rust proofing product made in New Zealand for New Zealand's corrosive environment, a world-class solution, to effectively seal spot rust repairs on the chassis, inner guard areas, and body seams. This robust underseal is known for its self-healing properties and excellent abrasion resistance. With its black color, it is particularly suitable for highly corrosive conditions and areas prone to high wear, such as the inner guards and the external surfaces of the chassis exposed to gravel impacts.

STEP 3

Rustproofing

It is recommended to apply a final strong waxy, water-repellent protective film to your vehicle. This protective film consists of three components: an internal rust-killing rust-proofing wax (Cavity Wax), an external thixotropic rust-proofing wax, and a high-temperature wax applied to key areas around the engine bay. As the solvent evaporates, it leaves behind a clear, hard wax that forms a water-repellent protective film, offering excellent rust protection. By preventing salt in the air or water from attaching itself to the metal, this process helps to inhibit rust formation on your car. Over time and with vibration, the adhesion of the protective film actually improves, further enhancing the longevity of your vehicle.
